PhD Student Brandi Patrice Smith Awarded a Post-Doctoral Position through the CDC

Informatics PhD candidate Brandi Patrice Smith and member of Dr. Rebecca L. Smith’s Modeling for Disease Control Lab, has recently been awarded a post-doctoral position through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Steven M. Teutsch Prevention Effectiveness Fellowship.

Brandi has been assigned to the National Center of Injury Prevention and Control, Office of Strategy and Innovation. Her project will encompass applying machine learning and natural language processing methods to understand factors (prevention programs, COVID-19, etc.) effecting domestic violence, child abuse, and understanding disparity-related factors that may also contribute to the above injuries.
