The emergence of antibiotic resistance is a growing global threat to human health. I use bioinformatic approaches to identify mobile genetic elements, such as plasmids and transposons, and investigate their role in the spread of antibiotic resistance within complex microbial communities. My research focuses on uncovering the mechanisms that govern changes in resistance frequency over time.
