My research draws on Software Studies and Organizational Communication to understand the ways in which research questions, fields of study, and intended audiences shape source code, tool use, and development practices. Using social science methodologies, I develop theories of situated practice that inform developer tooling functionality. Ultimately, my work aims to blend technical and qualitative approaches to improve the accessibility, reproducibility, reusability, and interoperability of research software.
