Global Informatics Certificate

The Global Informatics Certificate is a program to support the pursuit and mastery of both cultural and computational influences, preparing undergraduate students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to enter a world in which information technologies are ubiquitous, evolving and global in scope.

Certificate Requirements

The Global Informatics Certificate will be awarded to any student who completes the requirements of a Minor in Informatics and an additional senior capstone course, in addition to pursuing a Major from one of the following departments or centers.

  • Russian, East European and Eurasian Center (REEEC)
  • School of Literatures, Cultures & Linguistics (SLCL)

  • CS 101: Intro Computing Computer Science
          Note: This course satisfies the General Education Criteria for: Quantitative Reasoning II
  • CS 105: Introduction to Computing- Non-Tech Computer Science
          Note: Intended for non-science and non-engineering majors. This course satisfies the General Education Criteria for: Quantitative Reasoning I
  • CS 125: Introduction to Computer Science Computer Science
          Note: Credit is not given for both CS 125 and CS 124.
  • INFO 102: Little Bits to Big Ideas Informatics
          Note: Offered in the Spring only. Same as CS 102.
  • INFO 202: Social Aspects of Information Technologies Informatics
          Note: Same as IS 202 and MACS 202. See IS 202. This course satisfies the General Education Criteria for: Social & Beh Sci – Soc Sci
  • STAT 107: Data Science Discovery Statistics
